Kings Foundation School delinks, rebrands
Kings Foundation Schools has announced the delinking of its secondary school in Ntcheu, a move that has given birth to a girls’ boarding secondary school in Lilongwe.
In his address to parents and guardians at a meeting held at its Lilongwe campus on Sunday, Kings Foundation Schools managing director Chitsanzo Hiwa said Ntcheu campus, which was providing co-educational boarding facilities, will be catering for boys only and will be called Kings Foundation Boys Academy while the girls secondary school will be called Kings Foundation Rose Academy in memory of the founder of the schools.
Hiwa, however, said the foundation will maintain its co-educational status at its the Lilongwe day secondary school.
He said: “Each of the three institutions will have their own administration and run independently.
“The whole purpose of the reforms is to contribute to the provision of quality education by creating a conducive learning environment for our students.”
Hiwa said the reforms will be effective the next academic year which starts in September 2023.
King’s Foundation director of academics Chimwemwe Guluka allayed fears by some parents that the changes may affect the performance of day scholars as teachers would be focusing on students in the boarding school.
“Every institution will have its own administration to ensure that students have access to equal learning and studying opportunities,” she said. One of the parents, Austine Gomani commended the school management for introducing a girls boarding secondary saying, “it is the right step in preventing the students from experiencing sexual and gender-based violence”.
